Thank you from Fields of Life

Below is the transcript of a letter sent to Fitzroy by Tony Gaston, Director of Fundraising and Development at Fields of Life.

Dear friends,

Thank you!

Thank you for your prayers, thank you for your encouragement, thank you for your fundraising, thank you for your donations.

Through your amazing support, we have received over £125,000, helping us protect and care for tens of thousands of vulnerable people struggling through this pandemic and the subsequent lockdown.

We understand that not everyone has been able to give financially at this time, but we want to say how grateful we are to everyone who connected with us, supported us, and prayed for us over the last 7 weeks, since the lockdown in East Africa began.

Because of your donations and prayers, vulnerable communities in Uganda, Rwanda, and South Sudan have been provided with emergency handwashing facilities, food, jerrycans, basins, soap, masks, and gloves. Thanks to you, tens of thousands of people now have the vital food, water and resources they need to protect their health, improve the sanitation and hygiene of their communities, and limit the spread of COVID-19.

You are helping to save lives.

Please see this video clip of how your donations have been spotted by local news channel UBC.

Let me introduce you to Christine, the Chairperson of the local council for Kumi District. After receiving your donations, she said:

“We are so grateful for this donation. Even when we were trying our best to help our communities, we did not have the capacity to provide handwashing facilities due to budget constraints. I am very excited. Now we can ensure we don't leave anyone behind in this struggle.”

From the bottom of our heart, thank you for the impact you have made and the lives you have touched. We could not do this without you.
