Music

Worship is our response of love to the God who first loved us. If you or your children love the Lord and want to use and develop your musical talents to honour Him, get involved in an instrumental or singing group at Fitzroy. Groups span the range of skill level and musical style:

The Choir

The Choir sings traditional church music in both morning and evening services at intervals throughout the year.  They meet before the service for rehearsals.  It is not necessary to be able to read music! - but if you enjoy singing and can hold a part, they would be delighted to see you coming along!

Sounds Good Orchestra

The Orchestra leads worship every few months using hymns and songs both new and traditional.  The Orchestra welcomes anyone of any age (including children) with any instrument and of any standard.  An appropriate part can be prepared for any musician.

Youth Band

Youth Band plays about once a month in church and is for teenagers and youth leaders with any musical talent!

Praise Group

The Praise Group leads the worship 2 - 3 times a month. The music is a mixture of contemporary and traditional, and aims to introduce the congregation to new songs to complement the more familiar offerings of the Presbyterian hymnbook and Mission Praise. Practice is on an ad hoc basis, usually in Fitzroy during the week or before the service. New members are always very welcome.

Blake’s 6

Blake’s 6 comprises piano, guitars, voice and drums.  It is regularly to be found on the first Sunday of the month in the evening.  Involved in exploring imaginative worship styles, the services are often meditative and interactive.

"Sing for joy to God our strength; shout aloud to the God of Jacob! Begin the music, strike the tambourine, play the melodious harp and lyre."
Psalm 81:1–2 (NIV)

"Come let us sing for joy to the Lord. Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song."
Psalm 95:1-3
